Late Fall Share Week #4 (EOW Group #2)

This Week's Harvest:

Sweet Potatoes--This week's sweet potatoes are a mix of our traditional orange and a purple-skinned, white fleshed Japanese variety.  These ones are milder and nuttier, and are wonderful roasted!

Celeriac--Celeriac, or celery root, can be used in place of celery in many soups, stews, roasts, or braises.  Just cut back the gnarly outer skin to reveal the white root inside.

This Week's Harvest:

Sweet Potatoes--Fully cured, wonderful sweet flavor and texture.  Long storage life on your counter!

Kohlrabi--A crisp, sweet addition to salads or stir fry. 

Beauty Heart Radishes--brilliant pink interior makes these my favorite winter salad ingredient.  Slice thinly or grate.  They have some heat, but actually mellow in storage!

Salad Mix--mix of lettuce varieties.  Bits of cold/wind damage on this batch.

Apples!--Again this week we have organic apples in the share from our fellow farmers at Atoms to Apples in Mt. Horeb.  They are a newly certified organic orchard!

Spinach--It's the end of our first cutting--hopefully we'll see some regrowth!

Apples!--This week (and next) we have organic apples in the share from our fellow farmers at Atoms to Apples in Mt. Horeb.  They are a newly certified organic orchard!

Spinach--Hurray!  A big bag of our surprisingly bountiful fall planting.

Celery--Our fall hoop house-grown celery is huge, sweet, and beautiful.  Remember that you can freeze celery for winter soups!

Spinach--Hurray!  One of the best things to come from this cool, cool summer is our success with germinating fall spinach--it's the best-looking patch we've had!

Broccoli--A big bag from our beautiful fall crop.

Fennel--Some of the most beautiful bulbs we've seen! 

Baby Bok Choi--It's a return of spring with these sweet tender greens--great for chopped salads, stir fries, and soups.
