CSA Week #18 (EOW Group #2)

This Week's Harvest: Sweet Potatoes--These sweet potatoes are fully cured but will continue to increase in sweetness as they store. Head Lettuce--Summer crisp or oakleaf variety Celeriac--Wonderful celery taste.  Cut away the gnarly skin to reveal a white bulb.  Use in place of celery in soups and stews.  Keeps forever in a bag in the fridge. CSA Week #17 (EOW Group #1)

This Week's Harvest: Sweet Potatoes--Finally this first batch is cured!  These first sweet potatoes are not yet as sweet as they will be later on, but still have a wonderful texture and mildly sweet flavor.  You can also leave them on your counter for a couple weeks to increase the sweetness. This Week's Harvest: Potatoes--Fresh red potatoes from our friends at Christensens Farm in Browntown. Head Lettuce--Unfortunately, this week's lettuce is "Hail-kissed".  A bit torn, and will be more perishable! This Week's Harvest: Scallions--Tender mild fall planting Potatoes--Fresh red potatoes from our friends at Christensens Farm in Browntown. Head Lettuce--Choice of Summer Crisp or Oakleaf variety. This Week's Harvest: Scallions--Tender mild fall planting Tuscan or Curly Kale--Both are tender enough for raw kale salads, and make a wonderful soup green. Head Lettuce--Summer Crisp variety. Kohlrabi--Crisp, mild salad fixing.  Just peel with a paring knife and slice. Yellow Cooking Onions--Fresh harvested onions with a strong raw flavor and mellow when cooked.  Store on the counter. This Week's Harvest: Curly Kale--First harvest from our fall planting.  Kale lovers rejoice! Head Lettuce--Summer Crisp variety. Broccoli--Beautiful heads this week.
